Aprons are quite well known in the food industry and are used for various reasons by different people engaged in mostly cooking work. One of the most obvious reasons is to protect the clothing that the person is wearing underneath it. Not only this, apronsare used for hygienic purposes too. As far as housewives are concerned they wear it to protect their pretty clothes and to remain presentable for their husbands so that when they came back from work they can find their wives fresh and well dressed. Initially the apron was worn around the waist and the length was up to ankle or knee as preferred by the woman.
