There are a lot of different fungi that can damage plants, and one of the deadliest is pythium blight.  This fungus likes a certain kind of environment where it can thrive.  This fungus spreads the most when it is hot and humid.  Also, areas that don’t get a lot of air circulation are also places where this fungus can form.  This means that plants covered with tarps may be in serious danger of being infected with this fungus.  It mostly attacks turfgrasses, but it can affect a lot of different kinds of plants.  Gardeners fearing this fungus can battle it with a fungicide.
