Turn Kids On with Books on Audio

September 16th, 2009 . by admin

There are many things that you may be trying to do to get your kids turned on to reading.  Reading to them out loud from the time they are babies is one way to spark their interest.  But, there are other ways to show children that books are their ticket to greater imagination and enhanced learning.  Books on audio are tools that you can use to further your child’s interest in the written word.  Let your child listen to his favorite stories at home, in the car or even on the school bus.  It helps to also have a hardcopy of the book available so that he can follow the narrator’s words as the story is being told.

Duty of bridesmaids

September 7th, 2009 . by admin

The required duties of bridesmaids are very limited. They are required to attend the wedding ceremony and to assist the bride on the day of the wedding. Bridesmaids in Europe and North America are often asked to assist the bride with planning the wedding and a wedding reception. In modern times, a bridesmaid is also typically asked to play a role in planning wedding-related events, such as a bridal shower or bachelorette party, if there are any. These, however, are optional activities; according to etiquette expert Judith Martin, “Contrary to rumor, bridesmaids are not obliged to entertain in honor of the bride, nor to wear dresses they cannot afford.” If it is customary in the bride’s area to have a bridesmaids luncheon, then it is hosted, and therefore organized and paid for, by the bride. A junior bridesmaid has no responsibilities beyond attending the wedding.

Music Downloads and Over Saturation

August 24th, 2009 . by admin

There can be no debate that the institution of music downloads as the preferred way for music fans to get their tunes has changed the face of the music business.  There is much debate as to whether this has been a positive change or one that has hurt the music business.

Many feel that a big positive to the music download business model is that it has created an even playing field for artists both big and small to get their music out there to the general public.  But, has the new age of music downloads actually caused an over saturation of music hitting the cyberspace airwaves?  It is true that most anyone can get their MP3’s online and available for streaming and purchase, but that’s just the problem.  There are too many artists available to find, listen, and to choose from.  The market has been saturated and just like in years past, its still the fat cats with the big advertising budgets that get the majority of plays and purchases.

Gongs Are Useful Musical Instruments

August 16th, 2009 . by admin

I remember a stage play back in school where I used to be responsible for its sound effects. Much as everyone was busy preparing for the so-called drama of the “King and I”, our teachers and few of my classmates brought with them different musical instruments that included gongs. As it was a musical stage play, the casts would lip synch the original versions of music of such drama. As I was responsible for its sound effects, I needed to synchronize the movements of the actors vis-à-vis the music that I was playing. Hence, I had a script to guide me through. I would bang the gongs when the actor who played “King” would enter the stage, etc., etc. and so forth.
