GSM is a wireless technology and is short range. There are connection points that connect one network to another and these are called gsm gateways. Mp3 players, laptops and other hand held devise use this technology. This technology is also in cars which makes finding info while out on the road easy and quick. I am not sure how people managed in the past without this technology but I know that i could not live without this instant access to anything I need to know. My grandmother has a set of encyclopedias that she said she used to use when she needed an answer to something. Can you imagine having to search through a bunch of books?
