Acne is caused by clogging of the pores with dead skin and oils. The Proactiv system has worked with moderate success for me and with great success for my brother. The system basically consists of three steps. The first is a cleanser with a small amount of medication to kill bacteria. I find this really makes my skin feel fresh. The second step is a toner which made my skin feel moisturized. Sometimes I would skip this step since I like the way I felt after just using the cleanser. The last step is an acne cream treatment which is lightly medicated which I would put on once a day before bed. I think this was the step that helped me the most.
