Tips on Unfinished Hardwood Flooring

For the past 20 years we have had carpet and now I think that it is time to rediscover the roots of this 100+ year old home and get the wood floors throughout the house. I am going to start with an unfinished hardwood flooring because I think that is the type of floor where I can get back to the original look in the home. How do I protect the floors though to give it the unfinished look but obviously finish the wood.
