The Dimensions of a DIN Connector

February 4th, 2010 . by admin

The German national standards organization Deutsches Institut fur Normung originally standardized the DIN connector size, which is a connector designed for analog audio signals. It features a metal shield that measures 13.2 millimeters.

In recent years, some of the other types of DIN connectors are also used for digital interfaces like the IBM or MIDI PS/2 mouse cables and computer keyboard as well as for analog video applications.

Today, the IEC 60130-9 standard has replaced the original DIN standards. Besides its use for analog audio signals, it can now be found in other electronic devices such as the Sega Genesis, the Commodore C64 and the TurboGrafx-16 video game console.
