Three decades back wearing anything other than gold was not very common. People respected gold so much and the prices of gold were not this prohibitive. As a result every one looked for only gold not anything other than that but things have changed during the recent past. Gold prices went up and the fashion designers started looking for alternatives. They experimented with plastic and silver. Ultimately it was　silver jewelry that could come up to the same status as the gold. Afterwards they came out with such a lot of designs that there is some jewelry shops dedicated to exhibit and sell silver.
